Gardens and Events we went to in 2023

Visiting gardens, flower shows and horticultural events is a big (and very enjoyable) part of the research we do for our blog.
We always try to write a review or make a short film of our trips to pass on a flavour of our experience to you, our lovely readers.
Here is a list of the places and events we went in 2023, each with a link (underlined in green) to a review and/or a short film about that particular visit.

The Garden Press Event – February 2023 – a chance to have a sneak preview of new products coming onto the market in the coming year. I’m glad to report that we now stock two of the main award winners, the perennial spade and the Woolpots, in our online shop.

Wool Pots

Glyndebourne May 2023 – a huge privilege to have a guided tour of the dramatic gardens at this leading opera house which even lured Caroline down from the highlands for the day.

Chiswick House Garden May 2023 – Laura went on a solo visit to Chiswick expecting to be wowed by their indoor camellia collection but it turned out that these were just the curtain-raiser on far more important cameos.

Chelsea Flower Show – May 2023 – we had an absolute hoot at Chelsea this year – all those weeds and outdoor kitchens, no wonder it rained for much of the summer afterwards – they’d jinxed the weather!

Rose of the Year Launch at Waterperry Gardens -June 2023 – Elaine had decamped to Normandy by now but it didn’t stop her chipping in about her favourite roses in this blog we wrote following the Rose of the Year launch.

Hampton Court Flower Show – July 2023 – Laura was allowed out on her own again to report back from this summer garden party of a flower show. She even produced a short video of her day out.

Great Dixter – September 2023 – Laura and Caroline were lucky enough to attend an update on a project capturing the soundscape of this iconic garden, highlighting a biodiversity within the garden that eclipsed that of the surrounding countryside.

Exbury Gardens -October 2023 – Elaine and Laura went for a spin round the wonderful Exbury Gardens.

Garden Media Awards Ceremony at the Savoy – November 2023. We rounded off our gardening year at this glitzy event. There’s no written report and we didn’t win an award (sigh …) but we did have a lovely time with other garden writers, photographers, film makers and podcasters.

We're three sisters who love gardening, plants and even the science of horticulture but we're not all experts. We'd love everyone even remotely interested in their gardens to be part of our blogsite.
